Whether you need content for a new blog, YouTube channel or TikTok, here are four things to think about when creating relevant and engaging content for your audience:

1. Know Your Audience

Before writing or creating anything, it’s important to know WHO you’re making this content for. The more you know your audience’s interests, the better your content will reach them, especially when it comes to hashtags and SEO keywords you will utilize.

2. Define Your Goal

It is best to go into content creation with some goal in mind, especially if you have plans on turning this into a business or another stream of income. Depending on what you’re working towards you may want to increase awareness, grow in subscribers and followers, or even drive leads into sales for a business. If you spend time focusing on your end result before jumping into content creation, the process will run a lot smoother, especially for a business.

3. Create a Content Calendar/Strategy

I’ll be honest; creating a content calendar has been a struggle for me, but I’ve learned that without one I won’t be able to maintain engagement and connect with my audience the way I’d like to. If you want to succeed in this space, you need to take time out to plan and curate the perfect content schedule or calendar. It’s more than just posting and leaving an app, there’s work that leads up to the content you make, how it’s executed, where and when you post it, and what happens after you post it. By creating a content calendar you not only keep yourself on track, but you also have prepared for weeks in advance, reducing any stress and anxiety from not knowing what to create next.

Influencer Marketing Hub is a great resource to use for creating a content calendar, and provides businesses and creators with tools needed to help keep them consistent. I personally enjoy using the Notion app to stay on track of all of my tasks, as a creator and student as well, so I'd recommend that platform as a bonus.

4. Be Consistent

I cannot stress this enough: BE CONSISTENT! If you want to grow, if you want to reach your audience(s), you must be consistent in order to see any change in your engagement and strategy. Not everyone blows up over a viral post, and even if one does, there needs to be consistency to keep that audience engaged overtime. It’s tough but it’s through constantly working on your craft and making your content better and better every single time that helps keep the engagement going and brings in new audience(s). It’s hard at times, but once you have your mind set on your goals, and a content strategy in place, being consistent will come more naturally.

Of course these tips are very broad but don't worry, in other posts I'll break them down a bit more, so make sure to keep checking out for future blog posts. And as always, drop a comment if you have any additional tips that can help aspiring creators reach their goals.
